95 pages written, plus 5 bibliography, 171 footnotes. It's a f@cking thesis, dammit. AND I wrote an annotated bibliography and course syllabus to go with it. So wanna tell me again it's the "non-thesis option?"

Augh. Point is, it's done. Or it damn well better be. I'm going to go sleep for a week. Well, no, I have to take mom to the doc tomorrow. (Yes, we got her test results finally, and yes, the big C is back.... *sigh*)

Plz to shoot me nao?

Well, my advice (which I know you haven't asked for, but that never seems to stop us academic types) is:
- start early
- have a narrower focus than you think you need or could have (it's far easier to widen later than to figure out where to trim down!)
- be damned careful in picking your committee! My present is my second entire committee (or third, depending on how one reckons these things), and they have been quite helpful. It can easily be less, er, congenial, however.

Also, while they may be very rigorous on you (which is not a bad thing), I'd say go for older, established faculty with less to prove and less likelihood of being caught up in politics...

Yay! Glad you're back! Let's get together this week, because next week is officially shot already. (more on that later)

*hugs*

Have courage and faith that it will work out for you because your work is brilliant, bar none, and I don't say that to just anyone.

*hugs* Thanks, dear. I'm glad to read you seem to be seeing a light in the tunnel, too! Don't slow down now, you can do it! LOL

Coffee, soon?

Yes. Coffee. How's your Friday looking?

Er, horrid. I have a Care Plan meeting for my Mom in the morning, class at noon, and then Mom has a PET scan in the afternoon. After I get her safe home, I'm planning on collapsing until Saturday!

Tuesday during the day would be good, Thursday is wide open, and Friday after my class, say 1:30 or so...

How about Thursday - barring snow drifts the height of "The Thinker" - around 11 a.m.? Also, which coffee joint is closest to your new home? Gardiner Lane H.Bro's? Old Louisville Coffee? Or Douglas Loop H. Bro's? Let me know. **hugs**

Thursday is great.

Wait, I just looked and I think I didn't make sense before; that was next Thursday, as in the 20th - is that OK? This Thursday is also a slew of tests for Mom - CT, MRI, etc... We start at nine, but I have no idea how long we'll be at it....

As far as where - I'm open. Gardiner and Douglas are about equidistant, but Old Louisville is fine, too, if that's closer for you.

Lemme know! ~D) (that's a hot cup of coffee, BTW... lol)

Gardiner Lane is closer. I didn't know you meant next Thursday. But it's fine. Just let me know what time.

Things I need to remember:
• Asking for help is not, as it turns out, fatal.
• Laughing is easier than pulling your hair out, and doesn't have the unfortunate side effect of making you look like a plague victim.
• Even the biggest tasks can be defeated if taken a bit at a time.
• I can write a paper the night before it's due, but the results are not all they could be.
• Be thorough, but focused.
• Trust yourself.
• Honesty, always.
