Today's post, a festive holiday drink. I adore mulled wine (this one is delicious warmed up), and eggnog (sorry, I buy the premade stuff!), as well as eggnog lattés, but my favorite holiday drink is hot cocoa. I've seen some pretty sexy cocoa recipes so far this year (Nutella cocoa? *swoon*) but here's my own mix:
In a nice big mug (12oz at least) mix 3tsp sugar, 1 tsp cocoa (make it good stuff, like Ghirardelli, Godiva, or Rapunzel), a teensy sprinkle of sea salt (like 5 or 6 grains), a pinch of cinnamon, and a dash of allspice. Swirl it up so it's all mixed, then add one tablespoon milk. Mix it into a syrup consistency, then add milk to the top (leaving room for marshmallows, of course!) Heat as hot as you like it, top with marshmallows, and stick in a candy-cane. Toss on a light dusting of cocoa powder, sprinkles, or drizzle of chocolate. All you need now is a fireplace and it's Christmas in a cup! Enjoy!
