[Error: unknown template qotd]Forget tolerance. Teach people how to think rationally, apply critical thinking, ask questions, formulate their own ethics based in reason not faith. Give them that, I suspect you'll find tolerance isn't an issue any more....

I know, it's been said all over my f-list. But given a wrangle I got into with a pair of particular idiots, I needed to say it again!

Given your comment about "ethics based on Reason not Faith" I had to relate this...

My wife was railing in exasperation this evening about a particularly bad example of "Moral" political thinking on the news when my sixteen year old son said..."What do you expect Mom? It's Faith in support of Action, not Action in support of Faith."

I think that is a pretty elegant way of putting it. Especially from a highschool sophmore.

Well done, Mom & Dad! And well done Son! It's a very elegant way of putting it, from someone who clearly has learned to think critically! Thanks for sharing!

Some nut-job (and one of her sycophants) that thinks buying dead wolves from Russia to dance around in, and replacing them like old shoes when they wear out is a perfectly reasonable activity for a pagan/shaman (who also claims to be all pro-environment, etc.) and is an even equivalent to actual, native sacred practices.

See it all here:

It's pretty pathetic, really.

That's pretty heinous. Now, under the right circumstances I could see buying from a vendor but this does seem to be a bit vain. Then again, what do I know about Shamanism? It's not my area.

I need to learn some critical thinking!
Rationality wouldn't hurt either.
