That's why there is no global warming/climate change!

Listen as an elected representative (Rep. Shumkus, R., Illinois) testifies at a recent House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment hearing that since the Bible says "the Earth will not be destroyed by a flood," climate change is not a threat. Well, I'm so happy we got that all cleared up!

Oh, he also testified that carbon emissions are what keeps plants alive, and that the earth is actually a "carbon-starved" planet. See the entire train-wreck HERE.

THAT it why it is a VITAL necessity that we have separation of church and state. OMGods... so, now place for science in that jackasses' mind, eh?

*points to icon* No kidding! How in heck is it that this kind of crap even has a place at a hearing like this? Never mind, don't tell me, I know. *sigh* Sadly, this argument isn't new; it's pretty much the stock Neo-Con rationale against global warming. I want to go live in the Netherlands.... :(

And here all this time I thought there was a problem. Check out the expression on the girl's face who is sitting behind him. She looks like, "Is he really saying this?"

Yes, because proof of science is outweighed by a book. /sarcasm off.

Well sure! Those arrogant scientists! Thinking they know better than the oral traditions of a goat-sacrificing cult living in leather tents! The nerve! *headdesk*

I have a great faith in my gods and that they exist, but I also have the common sense to look at the world around me and see that there's something afoot. Sometimes I wonder if those that follow christianity like this guy just walk around with blinders on their heads saying "Nope, can't happen...ever."

And I mean no offense to those that are reading and are christian.

Well, in the first place, if there are any Christians reading this blog, and they haven't been offended long ago, I rather doubt that's going to do it! LOL

And yes, I think a great many of then *do* spend their lives with blinders on, and I think that is a particularly apt metaphor. Some people, like horses, are easily spooked, and remain much calmer if their view of what is happening around them is severely blocked, allowing them to focus only on what they are told. Ignorance is bliss and all that. Sadly the mechanism of the Christian faith is ideally suited to being applied in just that way, and it often is....
