1. Marmite- love or hate?
I like the idea of it, but no, I don’t like it.
2. Marmalade- thick cut or thin cut?
Fairly sure I’ve only had thin, so I’ll go with that. I am actually one of the few people I know who actually likes marmalade!
3. Porridge- made with milk or water?
Water, butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup.
4. Do you like salt, sugar or honey on your porridge?
Oops. See 3) above.
5. Loose tea or teabags?
Loose tea usually, but I sometimes carry bags for tea on the go.
6. Where on your door is your letterbox?
It’s on the wall next to the door, but it needs replacing.
7. What's your favorite curry?
I adore Indian, but don’t generally go of curry. Shahi Paneer is more my thing. But I do make a fantastic curry at home.
8. What age is the place where you live?
1940s, I believe, maybe 30s.
9. Where do the folks running your local corner shop come from?
Most of them hereabouts, as far as I know.
10. Instant or fresh coffee?
Fresh! Instant coffee is vile.
11. How far are you from the sea?
Probably about 8 hour drive.
12. Have you travelled via Eurostar?
No, I don’t think it existed when I was last in Europe.
13. If you were going to travel abroad, where's the nearest country to you?
Canada, I think, but likely Mexico is a close second.
14. If you're female (or possible even some males) do you carry a handbag?
Most always, though I downsize to a small cross body when I’m not teaching.
15. Do you have a garden? What do you like growing?
A small one, and I’m working on a few more. So far I have an assortment of herbs, a bed of fragrant lilies, a few azaleas, hydrangeas, etc.
16. Full cream, semi skimmed or skimmed?
Skim, to drink or in coffee. Never in tea.
17. Which London terminal would you travel into if going to the capital?
No idea.
18. Is there a local greasy spoon where you live?
Several; the closest is called the Twig and Leaf.
19. Do you keep Euros in the house?
Not really (we may have a few souvenirs about thought).
20. Does your home town have a Latin, Gaelic or Welsh alternative name?
No, it’s been French from the get go, though this area was known by the Iroqouis “Ken-tah-ten.”
21. Do you have a well known local artist or author?
A few, I suppose: Stephen Foster, Hunter S. Thompson….
22. Do you have a favorite Corrie character?
No, don’t watch it.
23. Are your kitchen sink taps separate or a mixer?
Mixer.
24. Do you have a favorite brand of blended tea?
I tend to go for varietals over brands. Green Jasmine is a favorite, and I have blend I make of Darjeeling with raspberry and blueberry.
25. What's in your attic if you have one?
Not enough insulation.
26. If you go out for a cream tea, what jam do you like on your scone?
Raspberry, most likely.
27. Talking of scones- scon or scown? Jam or cream first?
Scon and cream first, usually.
28. Barth or bath?
‘Bahhhth’
29. Carstle or castle?
‘Cassell’
30. What flavor of crisps do you favor?
Sour cream & onion.
31. If you go to the chippie, what do you like with your chips?
I don’t really.
32. Take away, take out or carry out?
Take out.
33. If you have one, what color is your wheelie bin?
Green.
34. What color skips does your local skip hire use?
No idea, sadly they aren’t easily available here.
35. Do you celebrate Guy Fawkes?
Not really, though I’m one of only very few folks hereabout that know what it is!
36. Dettol or TCP?
Bactine or hydrogen peroxide.
37. Do you have a bidet in the bathroom?
No, they are quite rare here.
38. Do you prefer courgettes or aubergines?
Courgettes.
39. In the 'real world' Do you have friends of other nationalities? Which nationalities?
A few; British, Indian, German…
40. Do you have a holy book of any sort in the house?
Several, since it’s an area of my academic work.
41. Do you prefer a hankie or tissues?
Tissues.
42. Are you a fan of crumpets? What do you like on them?
Cream cheese and marmalade, or just butter.
43. Doorbell, knocker or both?
Doorbell, though I’d like to get some nifty knocker.
44. Do you own a car? What sort?
Hyundai.
45. What sort of pants do you guys prefer? Y fronts or boxers?
I don’t wear any, and my son likes boxer briefs.
46. Anyone still a fan of suspenders?
Not really.
47. Do you have a favorite quote from the bard?
Too many to list!
48. Do you like toasted muffins?
Yep.
49. Do you think a traditional trifle should contain jelly?
I don’t think any I’ve had included jelly, but I’ve not made one myself.
50. Do you attend regular religious worship? Of what kind?
No.

Things I need to remember:
• Asking for help is not, as it turns out, fatal.
• Laughing is easier than pulling your hair out, and doesn't have the unfortunate side effect of making you look like a plague victim.
• Even the biggest tasks can be defeated if taken a bit at a time.
• I can write a paper the night before it's due, but the results are not all they could be.
• Be thorough, but focused.
• Trust yourself.
• Honesty, always.
