Wow. Your very sobering story reminds me of Schrodinger's Rapist (http://kateharding.net/2009/10/08/guest-blogger-starling-schrodinger%E2%80%99s-rapist-or-a-guy%E2%80%99s-guide-to-approaching-strange-women-without-being-maced/).

I sense that the Santa Barbara shooting, and the #YesAllWomen campaign that followed, have awaken a righteous anger in many women and made them realize that silence is not their only choice. And oh my has it shaken up the male-dominated internet. Hell, we've had some huge arguments over at DailyKos, which is supposedly just about as liberal of a blog as liberal gets.

My question is whether this will finally be the spark that gets us closer to equality between the sexes. Which is basically asking if the untold number of feminist movements in the past that many men ignored or refuted won't serve as any kind of guide.

Things I need to remember:
• Asking for help is not, as it turns out, fatal.
• Laughing is easier than pulling your hair out, and doesn't have the unfortunate side effect of making you look like a plague victim.
• Even the biggest tasks can be defeated if taken a bit at a time.
• I can write a paper the night before it's due, but the results are not all they could be.
• Be thorough, but focused.
• Trust yourself.
• Honesty, always.
