This no longer sounds like tin foil hat talk honestly. There was a time I would have pooh-poohed that idea, but now? It's too pervasive to be unintended consequences. There is this push towards a neo-medieval society, with a desperately poor, undereducated, constantly afraid and struggling peasant underclass, and small ruling class with access to all the things. It's been worrisome for years, but now, it feels terrifying.
